This blog is about our journey through life as we constantly travel, eat, and go on new adventures! Our marriage involves a lot of flights, food, and random road trips in our Prius… because Prius.
I am what I call a hobby photographer, writer, barista, property manager, and an avid Overwatch player. As you can see, I’m not a very decisive person when it comes to careers. I grew up in a small-ish city, moved to a tiny village and then BACK to the small-ish city, which is where I currently reside. Although our small-ish city doesn’t hold up to other larger cities like Seattle, L.A., or NYC, we have our fair share of events, breweries and restaurants to keep us here. Cost of living is a plus too, I guess.
So why travel for food? I personally think you can learn a lot about culture through food. Whether you’re wolfing down your third serving of some homemade pasta made by an Italian Nonna who doesn’t mention there are four more courses on the way, or unexpectedly getting spoon fed by a Korean mother who pities your curry stirring skills. You can learn a lot through food and sharing a meal with people from other cultures.
So whether you’re stopping by the blog because you want to hear a crazy story about traveling in Southern Italy, or you want to learn how to travel cheap – Welcome!
Hi! I’m Marino, and I’m married to the goober above. Like her, I wear many hats- and I have a tendency to deep dive in to my hobbies. Outside of my IT career, I’ve spent time as a gaming journalist, app developer, finance/frugality guru, credit card churner, and competitive Super Smash Bros Melee player, and enjoy writing on each of these topics. I grew up bouncing in and out of the same small city with my family- spending summers in Italy with family, and a couple years in the Netherlands- but always moving back to the same house.
When Dani and I first started traveling, we generally avoided tourist traps- but couldn’t resist interesting new foods. We quickly realized that the majority of our budget was going toward food- and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We are working on our way to becoming part- or full-time international travelers, and we’re excited to document our experiences here. I’m excited to share with you the places we go, and the methods we use to get there cheap!
